I checked my mail today and found a box from a publishing company in Berkeley inside and couldn’t imagine what it was. But as I walked back from the mailbox I recalled an email update from Kickstarter and a similar post on tumblr from author Nick Miller and knew it was his book.
His was one of the first things I ever supported on Kickstarter and after reading several excerpts of the book over the last year or so I was definitely excited to get the book.
The amount I’d paid entitled me to a signed copy of the book but I was surprised how nicely packaged everything was once I got the box open. Nick wrote a nice note that expressed his gratitude for helping him realize his dream and it was really cool to read. The book itself was packaged in yellow tissue paper inside a brown paper bag tied with string and nestled inside shredded paper (as you can see in the photos). From the picture he posted on his tumblr page and in the email he sent I know there were a LOT of these boxes that got shipped out and I was pleasantly surprised at the time he (and those helping him box everything up!) spent putting the whole thing together. He could have just as easily slipped the books in big envelopes and sent them on their way but this made the whole thing so much more personal and I loved it.
I can’t wait to start reading!
Thanks Nick!
